MaryRenee W. (Renee) Khalar, RN, BSN, MBA, CNOR, is an Education Coordinator at St David’s Healthcare Partnership, Austin, Texas, and owner/consultant of R&R Surgical Services, Inc, Austin, Texas. Previously Renee was a Clinical Educator at 4 institutions developing inservices and continuing education programs for perioperative and perianesthesia nurses (approx 18 years). Additionally she has many years of Surgical Services management experience including roles as supervisor, director, and administrator. Renee is an active member of her local AORN chapter – Austin Area AORN and serves nationally on Committees. As a seasoned speaker, some of her programs are Electrosurgical Safety in Laparoscopic Surgery, Boomers to Xers; A Generation Gap, and Recall of Emergency Protocols in the OR. Publications include Virtual Reality in the OR, Establish & Maintain Professional Accountability, and Are You Ready for A Malignant Hyperthermia Emergency? Renee was awarded the National AORN award for Excellence in Clinical Practice 2011. As owner/consultant of R&R Surgical Services, LLC – consulting in Surgical Services management and education, she has developed and presented a very successful program - Certification Preparation Workshop: A Process for Perioperative Nursing Achievement-for 13.1 CE’s.
