Self-Portrait as the Explorer

Abstract:

The piece was created as an exploration into ways of capturing and creating imagery in the computer. The head is a compilation of several scans of my head from different positions and while moving. The baby comes from another sculpture of mine, but is used as a symbol of curiosity and exploration, while the antlers are a reference to my last year's Rapid piece "Caribou Conflict". My work can be seen at www.davidvanness.com and my experimental project to create the first user made sculpture can be seen at www.wikisculpture.org, join and help work on the first opensource sculpture
