
Diabetes Education Coordinator, Alacare Home Health and Hospice
Cynthia B. Ruffin, RN, MSN, CDE, is an Education Coordinator of Alacare Home Health & Hospice, Alabama’s oldest and largest privately owned home health agency. Ms. Ruffin earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Jacksonville State University and earned a Master’s of Science Degree in Nursing from the University of Phoenix. Her career in diabetes education began in 1993, and she has been a Certified Diabetes Educator since 1996. In her work at Alacare, she serves in a full-time capacity, as a patient, staff and community educator and clinical diabetes expert. In addition, she serves on the Alabama Diabetes Association’s Wellness Board and has been an active participant and team captain of the annual Step-Out Walk for Diabetes annual events. As a volunteer presenter at faith-based diabetes prevention program events across her state, she recognizes the relationship of community ownership to its members successfully maintaining positive behavioral lifestyle changes.
